Connecting flights at Haneda Airport (HND)
Haneda Airport has three passenger terminals. The correct transfer route depends on your arrival and departure terminals, whether your flights are domestic or international, your ticket arrangements and whether you need to pass immigration or collect baggage.
Before travelling
- Confirm the arrival and departure terminals with both operating airlines.
- Ask whether your checked baggage will be tagged through to the final destination or must be collected and checked in again.
- Check whether your itinerary requires immigration, customs, security or a change between domestic and international areas.
- Confirm the minimum connection time and what happens if your inbound flight is delayed.
- Check visa and entry requirements with official Japanese government sources if you may need to enter Japan.
Moving between terminals
The airport provides a free inter-terminal shuttle bus and connections using the Keikyu Line and Tokyo Monorail. A pedestrian passage connects Terminals 1 and 2. Routes and operating conditions can change; consult the official terminal transfer guide before travel.
Separate tickets
Separate bookings may require you to enter Japan, collect baggage, check in again and pass security. The next airline may not protect you if the first flight is delayed. Confirm every step directly with the carriers and allow sufficient connection time.
Where to get help
Ask the airline operating your next flight for itinerary-specific instructions. Airport information staff can help with directions, but only the airline can confirm ticket conditions and baggage-transfer arrangements.
